You matter. To me.

Hello everyone! :)

We’re in a new month! The month of October..just really hope it’ll be better than September and  the months before that. Can you believe it's only two more months til 2013? PMR year...how scary :s

So yeah hmm nothing much happened. Actually a lot happened, but let’s just keep that off my blog, shall we?

Well, recently, yesterday actually, I posted a status on facebook. About suicide. Yeah well those statuses going like “wanna kill yourself? Imagine this, you go home blah blah blah it affects everybody, repost if you care,” were annoying me, and I really felt as though I needed to say my piece. Here’s what I posted:

“Wanna kill yourself? Imagine this, everyone thinks that by reposting that "imagine this, you kill yourself, bro finds you blah blah blah." they will be helping to prevent suicide. YOU feel irritated, YOU keep thinking, "they dont know how it feels. They act as if they do, but they don’t," which is partially true. Do you think that by posting  those stuff, you will be preventing suicide? No. A person who is suicidal needs LOVE, COMFORT,  ASSURANCE. Do you really think that the suicidal person feels  LOVED, COMFORTED, or ASSURED when you post things like that? I bet most of you, the ones posting  those stuff, are the very reason someone WANTS to commit suicide. They don’t need sympathy, they need empathy. They need it in real life. What is the use of comforting them through the internet? You think they'll feel all jolly and good by reading those stuff? No.  They don’t. They feel angrier. What they need is real life comfort, somebody to love them in REAL LIFE and tell them it’s gonna be okay. Sadly, they don’t have those kind of people in their life. Admittedly, they go on the internet, and they pour their hearts out. Only half of the people on the internet will react positively. They will comfort them, they will empathize. But the other half? Mocks them. Tells them to grow up. Or starts their own whiny complaint. "u think u have it hard? I have it worse!" or even worse, they tell them to shut up and stop being a baby.

Now, what most people don’t realise, is that the negative comments affects one a lot more than the positive ones.

ALL IM TRYING TO SAY IS, PLEASE, IF YOU WANT TO PREVENT SUICIDE, DO AN ADVICE BLOG, A SUICIDE PREVENTION BLOG WHERE YOU ARE ALWAYS THERE TO LEND A HAND. OR EVEN BETTER, GO OUT THERE TO YOUR FRIENDS, BE NICE TO EACH AND EVERY ONE OF THEM, SUPPORT THEM. WHO KNOWS, YOU MIGHT JUST HAVE PREVENTED A SUICIDE CASE BY BEING NICE TO SOMEBODY.”

Basically, that is how I feel when someone talks about suicide and says it’s going to be alright. Don’t they get it? Ok, maybe it IS going to be alright, like SA’s interact club said, It Gets Better. It does, but it won’t get better just like that. Nothing happens without a process.

In the process of getting better, there will be emotional conflict, pain, anger, sadness. That will cause that person to be suicidal. You want to help those people? The ones who feel like they have nothing to live for?

 Be there.  Just be there.

Don’t say a word, unless she/he needs it. They’re most fragile in that part of the process, and if you really, REALLY want to help prevent suicide, be there for him/her. Give them something to live for. If she/he has a talent, give him/her a project that takes a long time to do. Et cetera. Take their minds of it. Never, ever, EVER, make them even THINK about suicide while you’re around.  Make him/her happy. All the time. Slowly but surely…he/she will eventually realise that suicide is not an answer. They will see past their bitterness and catch a glimpse of the bright future that’s awaiting him/ her, and all of us. And you will be the one to help them live to see the joys and wonders of life.

Hehe im sorry it’s such a long post. It’s just been bugging me a lot nowadays. I had to get it off my chest. Wooo im so bored+tired.  Three weeks til finals! So scared D:

Here’s a poem I did just now….during geo not after because I don’t focus during geo (Oh well)

Untitled.

Beautiful girl,
Likes to twirl,
Under the willow tree.

Tears shed,
Moments shared,
Under the willow tree.

She’s gone,
He’s all alone,
He can’t live without her love.

Two ways to go now,
He can only pick one,
Will he be strong, forge through obstacles,
Or will he take the easy way out?

The water awaits him,
His face is grim,
Did he forget that he cannot swim?

Au reviour for now! I hope this loooooong post will make up for the weeks I won’t be uploading :p I think I’ll only be back after finals which ends on the 30th? Idk.

Byeeeeeeeeee xx

  1. it DOES annoy me when ppl post stuff like that and when they say that kids in Africa have it a lot worst than you.. how is that going to solve anything?? when you have a problem, you HAVE a problem. it's got nothing to do with kids in Africa.
